Waterproof, water-resistant or long-wear makeup?

Long-wear makeup is formulated to last longer than regular makeup (4 to 8 hours more or even up to 24 hours) under normal conditions. It is not meant to resist sweat or immersion in water. As for water-resistant makeup, it will stay put during exercise, a hectic night on the dance floor or a dip in the pool. But if you want something that can withstand all conditions, anywhere, anytime, even under water, waterproof makeup is your best bet.

Waterproof your look

Foundation, concealer, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick can all be waterproof or made to be. Here are some suggestions:
  • Complexion. During summer, you usually have a more even complexion and a sun-kissed glow. That’s why you can get away with masking any minor flaws with a waterproof concealer or foundation.
  • Eyes. Choose waterproof eye shadow or apply a liquid protective film over your regular eye colour to waterproof it. Finish off your eye makeup with waterproof liner and .
  • Lips. Apply waterproof lip liner to your entire lip surface. Follow with clear gloss to add some shine. You can also just use waterproof lipstick.
Good to know!
If you have sensitive, reactive skin, waterproof makeup might not be suitable for you, given the extra ingredients it contains. Plus, if you have large pores, waterproof foundation might not be a good option, since it can cause some clogging.

Removing waterproof makeup

Waterproof makeup is so resistant it can sometimes be difficult to remove. To get the job done, you need the right .
For eye makeup, you have two options: cleansing dry oil or dual-phase (oil- and water-based) remover. Oil-free makeup removers will only get rid of some of your mascara; you will probably end up wiping harder and harder and this will irritate your skin. For facial makeup, you can use regular remover. In both cases, finish off your routine with  to eliminate any oil and makeup residue.


DIY tips for crossdressers

Some of the DIY beauty myths you've heard over the years are BS. Whoever thought washing hair with beer was a good idea must have been under the influence of one too many shandies themselves, but there are some quick fixes you can try at home that do work. Here are some of our favourites: 




1. Drink a large bottle of water after brushing your teeth.
This is MC cover girl, Cameron Diaz's tip for waking up your digestive tract for the day. 'Every night before I go to sleep, I fill up a big glass bottle with water and put it on my bathroom counter. First thing in the morning, right after I brush my teeth, I drink it. Because I know that during the night, while I am sleeping, all of that breathing in and out exhales a lot of moisture from my lungs. Imagine how much water you can lose during eight hours of breathing! Because we can’t replenish it while we are sleeping, it’s important to rehydrate once we wake. Once I drink the water in the bottle by my sink, I feel it immediately. I go from being a wilted plant to one that has just been rejuvenated by the rain.'




2. Use mayonnaise to protect your hair
Before you dismiss this as utter madness, just look at Blake Lively's lusicous mane. The actress has just revealed in an interview with Byrdie that she puts mayonnaise on the bottom half of her hair before showering. This cunning DIY trick means that the mid-lengths and ends are protected when shampooing, so the soap can't strip all the natural moisture and dry it out. Blake's mum taught her this trick and it seems to have served her well. Just make sure you rinse thoroughly.

3. Use honey as a face mask
Honey (it has to be raw honey, mind you) has antibacterial properties and is very effective at helping acne-prone skin. Slather on your face, leave for 10 minutes, wash off with warm water and the job's a good'un. Some people complain that the honey draws out the toxins, causing problem skin to get worse before it gets better, but in the long run it's a good solution. 

4. Use baking soda on teeth to make them whiter

Are you loathed to splash out on expensive teeth whitening kits? Try mixing one tablespoon of baking soda with three drops of hydrogen peroxide then use it as a toothpaste for a healthy set of pearly whites. 

5. Shave legs with hair conditioner
Forget spending money on a separate shaving foam, simply use hair conditioner instead. It's super moisturising, makes the hairs softer and therefore easier to shave. Winning. 

4. Use evening primrose oil to help spots heal faster

Burst an evening primrose oil capsule and apply to troublesome spots to help them heal in half the time. It has anti-inflammatory properties, which can really help take the redness out of sore spots. Apply overnight and sleep in it for best results. 

6. Never EVER go without a pot of Vaseline
Petroleum jelly has countless uses. One of our favourite things to do is slather it all over our feet, slip on a pair of fluffy socks and then sleep. If you dye your own hair, it's great for preventing the dye from staining your skin, just use it as a barrier around the hairline, ears and neck. Finally, it can also be used to tame unruly eyebrows. 



7. Lemon peel can remove nail varnish stains
If dark nail polish has stained your nails, simply rub some lemon peel on the stubborn spot. Soaking the tips of your nails in lemon juice can also make then whiter. 

8. Use an orange to exfoliate
The acid and Vitamin C in oranges makes for an excellent exfoliator. If you don't have time to be concucting fancy homemade potions and lotions, simply cut an orange in half and use on your knees and elbows. 

9. Shave your legs last
If you tend to get bumpy or irritated legs after shaving, do it at the end of your shower when the warm water will have opened up your pores and the hair will be softer. 

10. Keep your beauty products in the fridge
Not all of them, obviously, but nail varnishes, eyebrow & eyeliner pencils and lipsticks can all be kept in the chilled section. Doing this will make your polishes last longer, as well as causing lip & eye pencils to be firmer and therefore give sharper lines. 




11. Serum + foundation = beautifully soft skin
Add a drop of serum (we love Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair) to your foundation to give your skin an extra glow. 

12. Add a drop of peppermint oil to your lipgloss
Add just a drop for a plumped up pout. Warning: it may tingle.

Trick #3: Avoid bottoms that sit too far above or below your waistline

If you have a big belly, the waistband of your skirt or pants should sit just below your belly button.

If the waistband is too high, it’ll look like your stomach is popping out below. If the waistband is too low, you’ll get the “muffin top” look.

Trick #4: Wear a light colored jacket over a dark top

Wearing a light colored jacket over a dark top is a great way to downplay an ample tummy. The jacket conceals excess poundage while the dark color underneath makes your belly recede into the background.

For the best results, look for a jacket with some shape. Princess seams are especially feminine and flattering.

Trick #5: Downplay belly rolls with a ruched top

Ruching (i.e. fabric that’s gathered along the seam line) is perfect for concealing an ample belly.

Unlike “flat” fabrics that reveal every bulge, ruching hides what’s underneath – including those dreaded belly rolls.

Trick #6: Just say “no” to tight clothes

If your belly is your trouble spot, you definitely want to avoid wearing tight clothes.

Clothes that are too tight (including bras and panties) will dig in and create unsightly bulges – calling even more attention to the area.

Trick #7: Avoid oversized clothes

Just as you should avoid clothes that are too tight, neither do you want to wear clothes that are too loose. Trying to hide a big belly under an oversized top just makes you look bigger.

Instead, your most flattering option is clothes that skim – rather than drown – your midsection.

How to Walk Like a Woman (MTF Transgender / Crossdressing Tips)

Your walk is a critical aspect of your feminine image. Unfortunately, it’s easy to go from one extreme (a masculine walk) to the other (over-exaggerated hip swinging).

How can you find a happy medium as you master your feminine movements? Read on for 3 simple tips to help you achieve a natural, womanly walk.

1. TRY THE HIP MATRIX

A big difference between men and women is that women tend to have more fluid body movements.

That means you can sway your hips all you want – but until you learn how to “loosen up,” your feminine walk will always look stiff and unnatural.

The Hip Matrix can help with this. Created by movement specialist Rob Brinded, the Hip Matrix exercise is designed to release tension and free up your body movements so you can achieve a flowing, feminine walk.

2. PRACTICE IN HIGH HEELS

Women have a lower center of gravity than men due to their wider hips. This creates that sexy hip sway that’s characteristic of a feminine walk.

Forcing your hips to sway usually looks unnatural. Instead, practice walking in high heels. High heels change your center of gravity and exaggerate the forward curve of your spine. This helps release the hips, which naturally feminizes your movements.

You can enhance this effect by trying to keep your shoulders still as you walk. This forces you to use your hips for balance.

Once you’ve mastered hip walking in heels, practice the same movements in flat shoes.

3. SHORTEN YOUR STRIDE

Shortening your stride is another easy and effective way to feminize your walk.

The average woman’s step length (the distance from the toe of one foot to the toe of the opposite foot) is 26”. So if you want to be scientific about it, get out a ruler and measure your steps! Your natural stride is probably longer, so work on taking shorter steps.

Note: The higher your heels are, the shorter your steps should be.

Is Gender Dysphoria Keeping You Down? (Male to Female Transgender / Crossdressing Tips)

Gender Dysphoria is a condition of feeling one’s emotional and psychological identity as male or female to be opposite to one’s biological sex.

Clearly this condition can get stressful for anyone. When your body and mind are not connecting as one; it can really ruin a good mood. We understand this, and we would like to help.

We asked our Glamour Girls to explain to us some of the way they stay positive when feeling down about their dysphoria and we got some really good feedback. Here’s some great advice from an even greater community of individuals that know exactly what you are going through.

Put on an outfit you know you look good in.

What’s a better way to make you feel better about yourself, than putting on an outfit that you know you look and feel awesome in? No matter how fancy or ridiculous the outfit is for lounging around the house- do it.

Cuddle your pet.

Pets are the perfect companions when you’re in an insecure mood, since they give unconditional love no matter what you look like or who you are. They don’t have one judgmental bone in their little tiny bodies. You can just cuddle and play with your pet until they inevitably put a smile on your face.

Treat yourself

A typical response would be to “buy some ice cream”, but I don’t exactly believe in this tactic. Eating does not make me feel better- at all! It honestly does the opposite because then I feel even more insecure because I just ate a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s… to myself… If I want to cheer myself up, I’ll go to Sephora, the salon, or to Bloomingdales. Leaving any of these places with a purchase, puts a smile on my face. So, go to your favorite place and buy yourself something that will make you happy. Treat yourself.

Set goals for yourself

This will keep you on track to finding happiness and peace in your life. When you are constantly pushing yourself, you will eventually become the woman you always wanted to be. Shying away from a difficult thing will keep you feeling down. The happier you will be the more goals you reach. Trust me.

Convert your frustrations into something positive

Looking back at old photos and pondering past experiences will remind you about everything you have been through. It will hopefully get you to see that you can handle anything.

Surround yourself with friends that understand or might be going through the same thing

A great support group is a must have. You can’t take on the world alone- I mean you can- but that is no fun. Having other people to share bad experiences with, makes it a whole lot easier.

Start a journal or blog

If you don’t want to talk to anyone, let out your emotions in writing. Whether it be digitally or on paper. Letting it out somewhere usually helps relive the stressful emotions.

For many people, getting lost in a good workout helps a lot. Your mind is free and you’re focused on the task at hand. Nothing can come in between that; giving you a stress free hour or so. It’s a win, win.

This is my go to solution for a lot of things. Sleep is amazing and will obviously keep you relaxed. You will wake up feeling refreshed and maybe you will have a different outlook on your issues with a level head.

I hope any of you reading will try some of these tips when feeling down for any reason. These tips don’t just work for dealing with gender dysphoria but, mainly any situation. They are great tricks to incorporate into your life to insure you live a happy and fulfilling life.
